Message length. As you can see, it is really neither one or the other. Greg D. and I have spoken about manifold design a few times at length and he has provided some insight into what I have come up with. I was originally going to go with all equal length piping, but Greg pointed out the fact that while equal length is good, it isn't necessary for turbocharged applications like it is critical for naturally aspirated engines. Also, longer pipes are going to mean more heat loss which will chip away at turbo response.

There are advantages to going with a log style design because of the heat factor - less energy will be lost. The only problem with it is the need for using some high-dollar exotic metal (inconel) to withstand the large temperature gradients that a log style design produces.

Since I am building these from 321 stainless steel which is less expensive than inconel (but not cheap by any means), I am pretty much restricted from using the log style design. So these manifolds are a little bit of a compromise because of the material, but after seeing how it all comes together I am almost certain it is going to flow better than a log style design anyway. My biggest concerns are going to be with cracking - with stainless it isn't really a matter of IF, it is all about WHEN. Hopefully they will give me a good number of reliable miles..
